Riddiford Neurology offers timely routine and urgent consultations with our Wellington Neurologists. Based in central Wellington, and working as a group practice, we aim to minimise the waiting time for your consultation.
As a group practice, patients benefit from shared expertise and collaboration on complex cases. For patients in the Wellington region, long term follow up for chronic neurologic conditions is available. For patients traveling from outside the region, a treatment plan and recommendations for ongoing care with your local health provider can be provided.
A referral from a GP or other health professional is required to ensure we have all relevant information and can communicate the outcome of your assessment. We do not accept self-referrals.
Referrals are prioritised based on the clinical information provided. If there is a change in your clinical condition prior to being seen by Riddiford Neurology, we encourage your referring health professional to contact our clinical team so we can consider appropriate changes to prioritisation. A referral may be declined if the team feels your needs would be better evaluated by another service.
Riddiford Neurology is a private neurology provider. Patients from out of region may be seen by the team. While some appointments may be possible via telephone or videoconference, it is important that patients are willing and able to travel to in-person appointments if required. We are unable to access some investigations in other regions, including some investigations at the public hospitals. If we are unable to access the necessary local services to provide appropriate care, or patients are unable to travel to Wellington when required, care may need to be transferred to a local provider.
We have limited capacity to accept ACC funded medical case reviews and referrals must be made through the patient’s ACC Case Manager. We remain available to provide ACC-funded neurophysiology testing, for which referrals can be sent directly to Riddiford Neurology.
